Headphones for Kinder Scholars

The Description

With these funds we will...purchase headphones for every scholar to use with our mobile computer lab and with the classroom computers.  As a brand new founding school, our budget is tight and we just do not have the funds to purchase such a large amount of headphones.  We had some unexpected expenditures and were only able to purchase five headphones.  This would mean that we would have to rotate 5 laptops and headphones from class to class.  We would not be able to realize our vision of every scholar gaining computer access daily not only for extra practice but also for extracurricular enrichment and online testing. We promise the funds sent for this project would definitely be used wisely and most efficiently! We will save these headphones from year to year until our school is fully grown to 4th grade.

Back Up Plan

If we don't reach our entire goal we will...use whatever funds were secured to purchase as many headphones as possible for our scholars.  Our leadership team has also decided to pool some money to purchase a few more to help out.

About the Creator

I am the Lower School Dean at a charter school called KIPP WAYS Primary on the west side of Atlanta. Our mission is to prepare students for top quality high schools, colleges, and the competitive world beyond by instilling in each student a commitment to scholarship, teamwork, and integrity. I completely believe in this mission, hence I began my career as a Teacher for America teacher. I am now celebrating my tenth year in education and I am so excited to be a part of the founding team opening this new school! I hail from Buffalo, NY where my school options were dictated by my zip code. I did not receive the best educational opportunities and thus was not adequately prepared for college. I never want another scholar to experience what I did on their climb up the college mountain. For this reason, I continue to fight the good fight and work with students in underprivileged neighborhoods to ensure their success through elementary school and beyond.
