This year will be my first year teaching and I cannot wait to get started! I have chosen to join Teach for America so that I can be a part of the movement to close the educational gap that exists based on race and economic status. I know that I have a huge challenge ahead but I hope that having the supplies and books my students need to not just pass, but thrive. Anything that you are able to give will help set up my classroom and stock my room with supplies for the approximately 75 3rd graders I will be teaching daily. I will be teaching reading and hope to use these funds to create a classroom library that is culturally inclusive to my students and is differentiated to both hit all of my students reading levels and push them to challenge themselves. I want to create an environment where my students feel safe, and know that they have what they need in order to succeed.
