The Description
Money raised for the KIPP 3D Band Program will go towards fixing instruments and purchasing new instruments. We have several flutes, clarinets and saxophones that need to be repaired so that our students can learn how to play on instruments that work properly. Repairing instruments can cost anywhere from $50-$150. Brand new instruments (basic student models) cost anywhere from $200-$500. Right now, we need repaired flutes or brand new flutes the most--we have 4 flutes that are not working properly and so students are unable to play on them as the sound that comes out is not what should be coming out.
Our students perform several times throughout the school year at school concerts and Solo and Ensemble. Our student population is currently comprised of low-income, at-risk populations living in underserved communities. Unfortunately, many of them have little to no opportunities to be able to purchase their own instruments and so they use school instruments. Students in different band classes share instruments and we sanitize them before each student plays them.
Back Up Plan
If we don't reach our entire goal we will get as many instruments repaired as possible.
