With these funds I will encourage students to read more using high interest classroom novels starting with "Perfect Chemistry".  Each "Perfect Chemistry" book is $13. I will be purchasing 30 for a classroom set. Any money left over will be spent on other classroom novels that interest my students. I am encouraging students to read more which will help them increase their lexile levels and their performance on standardized tests necessary for graduation.  

"Perfect Chemistry" is a high interest teen read book that helps students, as stated on the book’s synopsis, “break through stereotypes and misconceptions” about others. This book promotes acceptance and understanding of differences among their peer group while captivating their interest in reading. Struggling teen readers need high interest material to keep them focused and motivated as they work to become fluent readers. Students whose interest has been captured by this novel will be anxious to read the rest of the series. A student once reluctant to read at all for pleasure may find himself happily reading 1,000 pages. Reading engaging books such as this one help struggling readers visualize, predict, summarize and infer all skills necessary for developing proficient readers.
