The Description

With these funds I will...be registering 15 girls to participate in the Girls on the Run program with myself and another teacher as their coach.  The registration fee for each girl is $30. We will meet 4 days a week to practice healthy habits and train to run a 5K on May 20th.  Teaching girls the power of running for the mental health benefits and physical health benefits will be invaluable to them for the rest of their lives.  This small group will provide a safe place to explore what it is to be a healthy middle school girl as the stress of social pressure increases. The parents will receive a calendar of the topics we discuss and the workouts we complete so they can continue the conversation at home.

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal I will put the money raised towards offsetting the registration fees for each girl.

The Race is Saturday!!

May 19, 2016

After 4 months of training we have our 5K race on Saturday.  The girls are excited to meet at the school at 6AM, decorate their faces, put on tutus they made, ride in the school van and meet up with all the other GIRLS ON THE RUN groups to run!  After the race we are going to celebrate meeting our goal by sharing breakfast together.  Thanks to all of you for making this possible.  I will post pictures after the race:)
