With these funds I will...Purchase a one year subscription to MysteryScience.com.  This allows all teachers and students at our school access to the science lessons on MysteryScience.com.  At this sight, teachers have a complete science unit with videos, hands-on activities, material lists, and assessments.  The videos are engaging, the instructions are easy, and the materials are simple to gather.  In addition, extension activities, readings, and videos are provided to further enhance the learning of students.  

I have a student who is suddenly exhausted when it is time to take a test.  He sleeps.  Most days he is late to school.  But when I present a science mystery to my class with a hands-on activity, he is suddenly engaged.  Today he blurted out when I started passing out scissors, paper plates, and shadow clock templates that he loves my "science crafts."  My other students are already engaged most of the time, but to get this particular student to join us is rare.  But I know when I utter "MysteryScience", this student wakes up, perks up, and participates.  It is truly refreshing.  

While studying properties of matter, through MysteryScience the students were challenged to design a hat to protect them should they be deserted on a tropical island.  It had to have specific properties, and this student's "hat" even shielded him from bugs...his own creative engineering of his hat.  You can see this on display in the picture uploaded to this PledgeCents Cause.  Without this experience, this creative, smart, student would still be snoozing away during a less engaging lesson.  How many students like him are out there?  As a veteran teacher, I can assure you there are many more.  These students deserve this opportunity.  

I encourage YOU to help us raise funds for this school-wide program.  Other online programs cost over $1,000, and this is such a great deal!  We truly appreciate the support we get from our community to offer our students only the best!
