The Description
Aloha!
With these funds I will provide 30 disadvantaged students with the opportunity to have access to MinecraftEDU before and after school. Technology is a fantastic tool but as Arne Duncan says, "The best combination is great teachers working with technology to personalize the learning experience and engage students in the pursuit of the learning they need." Gamification increases interest and creates a personalized experience for all.
The majority of my students know what Minecraft is but only dream of having access to it. Many Mountain View area students do not have internet access where they live. Often, these families cannot afford the cost of internet access or even a Minecraft single-user license fee.
I would like to purchase up to 30 single-user licenses ($18 each) to provide students with access to this individualized learning tool. I will facilitate the class before and after school hours as a structured time to deepen their understanding of common core standards. I believe this is a tool which will enable all my participating students to succeed at a higher level.

Mahalo for considering my request.
Sincerely,
Karen Corbell
Back Up Plan
I recently took a CODE studio training and will be expanding our computer science options to include MindcrafteEDU, CODEing and Making. So if there are not enough single use licenses for MindcraftEDU there will be other choices for the students.
