As a first grade teacher, I work at a Title 1 school where the majority of the school population consists of low income families and high poverty rates. Many of my students are considered at-risk and unfortunately, I, nor my school, can financially afford the classroom essentials that our students are entitled to. Providing these essential classroom materials will help to ensure that our students are attaining the best support possible. I am continuing my beginner years in teaching, and have personal provided the majority of my classroom materials i.e.: shelving, chairs, paper, charts, books, etc... Unfortunately, these items are extremely costly, and I do not have the funding to supply these necessary items for my students learning.

One of the biggest challenges is making sure that all of my students have the materials that are needed to become successful 21^st century learners.
