Hi friends and family! As most of you know I am teaching first grade at Winterfield Elementary in Charlotte, North Carolina. I was placed at Winterfield through a program called Teach For America that places people who are passionate about educational equity in low income/Title 1 Schools. 

In my class alone I have 21 students. Out of those 21 I have 12 ELLs (English Language Learners) who come from 5 different countries and speak 4 different languages! Even though my students are not always able to communicate with each other we have created a very close classroom community. 

Being that my school is serving low income families I am asking for donations to go towards basic school supplies during this holiday/giving season. Only 1 of my students brought all of the school supplies that was listed at the beginning of the year, and as a first year teacher I have spent hundreds of dollars on my classroom and my kiddos. We are in desperate need of basic supplies such as kleenex, germ-x, lysol wipes, tape, paper, an electric pencil sharpener, and laminating pouches to get us through this school year! 

I am really hoping that you will consider giving towards my classroom and supporting my kiddos! If I get overfunded I will be purchasing books that my students will be able to "check out" of my classroom library because most of my students do not have books at home! Also if you have books/supplies that you would like to donate that would be awesome as well!!
