Lets Help People To Understand Who We Are

$500 goal

The Description
With these funds I will continue to advance the true nature of who we are in African American History. I will be able to purchase books such as "A Long Way Gone," W.E.B. DuBois' "Black Souls", books by Maya Angelou. I will purchase these in class sets, so we can study them together to get better ideas of what we do and why we are. My students deserve this help because they are very diverse and deserve to understand how they are connected, as well as who they are. I want these children to realize we are not a melting pot, but a very good salad, where each of us are needed but we must retain our own taste and culture.
I have a need of African Masks to be decorated to reflect different tribes and areas along with the paint and needed supplies. These can be found on Amazon for about $1.49 each one on supplies for art, paint is approximately $49.00, and brushes. We need enough of each to cover 65 projects. All of the books that we are looking to purchase can be found on Amazon from $1.99 to $4.95.
Back Up Plan
If I do not meet my goal I will purchase a set of the W.E.B. Dubois "Black Souls" and also the masks for the students to use.
I would purchase play yard sand and food color to switch projects to making Mandalas to represent some of the religions used in Africa.
