New Vision Academy is seeking your support in raising $10,000 in 90 days to provide our students with equitable access to technology in our classrooms. Our educational experience was enriched through the use of technology in school. We always appreciated and took full advantage of visits to the computer lab or media centers for research, or to work on various papers or projects. Our success in school relied heavily on our ability to access the internet and various software systems. With the constant shifts in educational legislation and changes in state testing and administration, it is imperative that our students share in the same experiences and privileges. 

This year, students in Tennessee will take the TNReady State Assessment in place of the TCAP State Assessment. New Vision academy prides itself in maintaining its status as a reward school for the past three years. We were also the recipients of the SCORE Prize for our academic achievement and growth throughout the 2014-2015 school year. We hope to continue this trend of academic success in the years to come despite the shifts in standards and testing new online testing platforms. The TNReady Assessment utilizes new and highly rigorous academic standards. Students will be confronted with a plethora of new question types that will require intense critical and analytical thinking skills. This change alone, has immensely challenged our students who generally come to our school performing below grade-level. In addition, the TNReady assessment will be administered through an online platform called MIST. MIST requires specific computer capabilities and internet bandwidth in order to operate and provide students with a seamless testing experience.

Currently, we do not have sufficient technology to support our students' needs and success on the TNReady State Assessment. Most of our students lack sufficient access to technology in their households due to hardship and other personal situations. Because of these realities, it is crucial that our students have access to quality computers and practice with the new testing platform while in school. Our students' success on the TNReady Assessment this year is of great importance, especially for our middle school scholars, since they will be applying to high school. Their success in life relies on their ability to have options for a quality education. In order to achieve this, our students must be able to have as much unobstructed practice using the online platform as possible, as well as an unobstructed experience come testing day. Your support will enable us to provide this for our students.

The funds will be used to purchase:

• Four class sets of laptop computers
• Technology Support that can resolve internet connectivity issues
• Other items that will assist with testing administration during our school's testing window
