I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma from Cleveland, Ohio this past June to join Teach for America. It is my intent to make a positive impact on the lives of young children and to help fight educational inequity. 

This fall, I will be begin my teaching career at Owen Elementary, within the Tulsa Public School District. Owen has almost 85% of students who qualify for free or reduced lunch. The largest issues that students in high need schools face is the lack of necessary materials needed to learn on a daily basis. This makes it infinitely more difficult for students to take part in activities and classwork when they do not have basic supplies. Unfortunately, the education system in the United States, and Oklahoma, are unable to provide these students with the materials they need to be educationally successful. It is my duty as an educator to ensure that my students are given the tools and materials they need to thrive in my classroom. This comes with an out-of-pocket expense to myself.

It is my dream to provide my students with a classroom that is safe, clean, and stocked with materials. I wish to provide a nurturing and relaxing environment for my students to be able to learn effectively in the least restrictive setting.

Every dollar that I receive will be put into my classroom design and necessary classroom supplies, making teaching and learning effective and efficient. Any contribution will really make a difference in my first year in the classroom and will help my students tremendously.
