8th Grade End of Year Trip to Washington, DC
Verified Non-Profit
$2,910
$10,000 goal
The Description
Every year, KIPP Liberation offers our students the unique and for many, once in a lifetime, opportunity to travel to our Nation's Capital.
For most of our students, this is the first time they have ever left the city of Houston, let alone experince such rich histroy and culture. This year, our students will be traveling during the week of May 18-22 and will have the opportunity to experience the White House, Ford's Theatre, the National Holocaust Museum, Smithsonian Museums, the National Mall, and more.
While KIPP Liberation helps to pay for some of the cost, the trip is not entirely free to students. It is the unfortunate reality that every year, even the best and brightest students have to forfeit their opportunity to participate in the End of Year trip because of a financial inability to attend. Our families simply cannot afford to pay the $800 required to cover airfare, lodging, ground transportation and meals.
It is the 8th grade team's goal to help make this trip possible for most of our kids. Not only is this an huge academic opportunity for them to connect their content to real life examples, but it is a pathway to opportunities for their futures, expanding their perspectives and life experiences. Please help make this possible!! This year, the airfare, lodging, event tours, food, and ground transportation is totaling to $827.50 per student.
This visit to Washington D.C. is a tremendous learning opportunity for class of 2019 and will be chronicled as each learning team will create a video documentary to be present at school as their final 8th grade project. We desire to provide them an experience of a life time as they visit the many historic sights, and talk to the people that make our country the greatest in the world.
Back Up Plan
If I do not meet my goal, the funds will still be put toward helping to reduce the cost required per student. Any little bit that money that we can raise to help reduce this cause is helpful to our kids!
