We are a group of passionate educators in Metro Nashville, who strive to instill a love of reading in our students! We seek your support in helping us raise $1,000.00 in 30 days, so we can create a school library for our students. Our educational experience was full of rich text that influenced the way we learned and interacted with our world. We always loved regularly visiting our school libraries and exploring the vast collections of books to read. Now, as we embody our roles as teachers, we recognize the importance of those experiences and wish to provide our students with the same. 

Currently, our school does not have a classroom library to support students' reading. Our students generally enter our school reading significantly below grade-level and have limited access to quality texts due to financial hardships and other personal situations. Research shows that 35% of students with reading disabilities drop out of school. Additionally 25% of adults lack the basic literacy skills required for a typical job. In an effort to close the literacy gap in our community, we want to provide early interventions for our students by providing them with rigorous, relevant and interesting, grade-level books. If identified early, 90-95% of children at risk of reading failure will become fluent readers. These statistics support our drive to provide our students with a school library. 

These funds will be used to buy:

• Age-appropriate books that students can use for independent reading.
• Books that align to the recent shifts in the Tennessee State standards.
• Shelving to house our new library books.
