With these funds we will be hosting a Newcomer Thanksgiving for our newcomer families. Newcomers are considered families that have arrived within the past 2 years into the United States. This year we have had an influx of families coming from other countries (primarily Brazil). We have about 40 families in total new to the country. For many of those families, this is their first Thanksgiving in the United States. We would like to offer Newcomer Thanksgiving as a way to come together and welcome these special families into our community while also teaching them about our culture and traditions. All of these students are currently on free lunch, so providing a big dinner will fill a great need.

We would like to invite families to come and celebrate the holiday on November 21. 

We will also be doing a coat drive to provide these families with warm clothing for the winter months.

Funds will be used to purchase catered Thanksgiving meals including Turkey, sides, drinks, and desserts for these families. In addition, we will purchase paper goods to be used for serving the night of the event.
