The last week of May, Grizzlies Prep 8th graders and staff will be traveling to Chicago for their Annual College Trip! They will tour a variety of colleges to experience college campuses, college classes, and lunch in the dining hall. DePaul University, University of Chicago, University of Illinois in Chicago, and Illinois Institute of Technology are on the itinerary for this year. Not only do they visit a number of colleges and universities, but they also visit the Field Museum and the Adler Planetarium. Staff and scholars stay at Camp Manitoqua, for the week where they enjoy outdoor activities and a camp-style dinner each night. The money raised will go directly towards purchasing: 

1. A bus to transport the 8th graders and staff to and from Chicago, as well as transport them around the city 
2. Lodging at Camp Manitoqua 
3. Breakfast and dinner meals at Camp Manitoqua, one dinner at a local Chicago restaurant, and lunch meals on college campuses 
4. Tickets to local Chicago attractions and intellectual experiences such as the Field Museum and the Adler Planetarium 

For many of our young men, this is not only their first college trip, but one of their first trips out of the Memphis area. This unique experience allows our young men to see the opportunities that they will be able to pursue after excelling in middle and high school. Grizzlies Prep’s families have said that the college trip is a formative, transformative experience for their scholars.
