The Description

This is my first year teaching 8th grade science and I am coming into a classroom that does not have textbooks or materials. My job is to nourish the love of science to my students because I am hoping to inspire future scientists, engineers, doctors, etc. In order to do this, my student need the adequate materials.

My students are already coming into the classroom with deficiencies due to their socioeconomic status. I want to give them the same learning opportunity as other students throughout the city. CPS does not currently have the adequate funds to supply my students with these materials. I am asking you, for your help. Your help to allow my students to start 8th grade science on the right foot.

With these funds I will secure 16 Physical science textbooks that will touch the hands of many 8th grade students for years to come. Also students will receive all the materials to cover our Chemistry unit. Students will explore the life cycles of a variety of common materials from the acquisition of raw materials through to the end of the product’s useful life. After learning about the basic building blocks of matter, elements, and the periodic table, students model the structures of several common compounds. Moving from the atomic level to the material level, students investigate what conservation of matter means in light of the product life cycle and how this can affect manufacturing decisions. http://lab-aids.com/middle-school-curriculum/issues-physical-science-2nd-edition/iaps-2nd-edition-unit-b-the-chemistry-of-materials

Terri,
Thank you so much for your donation. Because of you my students are one step closer to getting their books. Thank you again for your generosity.

Wish I could have done more. I'm sure something is better than nothing though. Good Luck...I hope you are able to raise enough money to help your students succeed.
