Maker Nexus will use these funds to open a nonprofit makerspace in the Mid-Peninsula area of California, with a huge focus on education, including an immersive STEAM program for kids. The money will go towards opening our doors and filling our space with equipment and tools like laser cutters, 3D printers, woodworking equipment, and computers with design software. They'll also go towards amazing teachers and staff who can help show makers not only basic skills, but how to push themselves to grow and create something amazing. These funds will allow us to have classrooms stocked with project materials, from wood and acrylic for laser cutting, to arduino kits, to filament for 3D printing. And, most importantly, these funds will be going towards fostering a supportive community of makers that welcomes people of all ages, genders, orientations, and interests, so that they can be in a place that really allows them to thrive.
