Hi, my name is Shannen and I want to be a yogi. I currently serve as a College Counselor for KIPP Houston High School, and KIPP Houston region recently launched an initiative through a partnership with In-Powered to bring yoga classes to our region's faculty, staff, and students. We want our teachers to have the best opportunities to build strong mental health and recharge through the transformative practice of yoga. In order to do so, I need your help to cover the costs of yoga training!

By donating to this cause, you will open up the opportunity for our staff to bring the knowledge and practices of an intensive yoga training delivered by In-Powered back to our campus in the form of weekly yoga classes. In-Powered in itself is an influential organization. Their primary goal is to create life-changing opportunities for those impacted by the school-to-prison pipeline through the practice of yoga. They are committed to offered yoga programs in schools, juvenile justice centers, and prisons to create a shift for both individuals involved and their surrounding communities. 

All proceeds of this cause will be toward sending a staff member (me!) to In-Powered's yoga training through the KIPP Teacher Wellness Program. It will cover an intensive yoga course from June-September, books, and other costs associated with certification. Once the certification is completed, I will then be able to teach classes for both students and staff.

Being able to train with their staff in an effort to empower our campus so that we can have a staff that is fresh and ready to take on the challenges associated with the field of education would be a wonderful opportunity for KIPP Houston High School.
