With these funds I will buy books for my classroom library. I am a second year teacher teaching my first year in second grade. My first year teaching was in 5th grade and I had inherited many great books for my classroom that year. However, this year I was not as fortunate. I had several people give me books to use in my classroom, but many of them are old and falling apart. 

I have a wide range of reading levels in my classroom, but many of my books to not go above a first or second grade reading level. I have several students in my class who read at a third or fourth grade reading level. If I am fully funded I would make sure that I buy a wide range of read levels for my classroom.

At this age reading is a critical skill that all students need to develop more. Second graders begin to comprehend more of what they are reading so it is important that I have books in my classroom that reach each students interests.
