The Gator Crossing Track Committee is working hard to meet the goal of raising $47,000 to build a quarter mile walking track on the playground of Glengary Elementary in July 2016.  We are well underway toward making this a reality, with $29,000 raised to date!  This campaign was created as an additional avenue to raise these funds and all funds raised through PledgeCents will be used toward the actual construction of the track.  Along with a robust walking/running track, the crew will level the playground, reconfigure our existing soccer field in the middle of the track and install a walking path for our students who walk to school and enter the playground from Brisbane Street.  Our students will use the track for PE Class, annual Fun Run, Color Run, Field Day, Girls on the Run, Stride, Mileage club, after school activities and community events. 

Our vision is that the Gator Crossing Walking Track will provide another safe avenue for children to increase activity both during the school day and after school.  We also hope that the track can provide a place for a child to go when he/she may not have a playmate at recess.  If that child starts to walk or run around that track, chances are, someone will want to join them!  Our playground is accessible to the community during the evening hours and throughout the summer.  The track would make a welcome addition to all of our existing playground equipment!

We hope to break ground and complete the installation in July 2016.  Each donor will be invited to our ribbon cutting ceremony after the children return to school in September 2016.  Our goal is to hold our annual Fun Run as the inaugural event on the track in October 2016, followed by our annual Halloween parade shortly after the Fun Run!
