The Description
The Club of Rock is a new club at Turner High School sponsored by veteran teacher and musician Mr. McGee. Students in this club will meet before school twice a week in order to learn how to play rock music in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment. The club is open to any student who wants to learn a new skill, or develop existing skills with their friends. We encourage students to bring their own instruments, but many students in our community cannot afford instruments, lessons, or even basic equipment. Your donations to this cause will go to cover the costs of purchasing and maintaining basic club instruments: guitars, drums, amplifiers, microphones, etc:
Pearl Roadshow 5-Piece Fusion Drum Set Jet Black ($449)
Fender RUMBLE 25 1x8 25W Bass Combo Amp | Guitar Center ($99)
Ibanez TMB100 4 String Bass ($199)
Squier Bullet HSS Stratocaster Electric Guitar ($129-$149)
Fender Mustang I V.2 20W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp Black ($119)
Back Up Plan
If we do not meet our goal, I will use the funds to purchase basic supplies like guitar strings, string winders, basic percussion instruments: i.e. tambourines, cowbells (because we need more of it!), and to cover the cost of repairing whatever equipment students might already own.
Speaking from my own personal experience, learning how to play an instrument is a lifetime gift: it promotes general well-being, provides constructive and creative entertainment, and it induces contagious joy. As an educator, I know that any and all positive interactions that our students have with school reaps many positive benefits. Please help support our fledgling club! Your contribution is truly appreciated, and it will no doubt benefit generations of young Kansas City musicians.
Peace and best wishes,
Jason McGee

Update:
Club of Rock check received last week!
My co-worker, friend, and adviser Laura Gilchrist snapped this honest-to-goodness photo of me in the mail room when I opened the letter.
Thank you, all!
Now, let the work begin....
Today, I'm setting up an account with Guitar Center and making purchases.
Within the next week, I will begin constructing a rolling cabinet in order to store all of our gear.
Your generosity made this possible!
I will do my best to honor your investment in our collective future.
All my best,
Jason McGee
