Now that I have completed Teach for America 2017 Houston Institute, I am incredibly excited and motivated to get the school year started. I have the privilege of teaching Social Studies and World Cultures to an eclectic group of 6th grade girls. I am looking forward to learning from them as much as they could learn from me. However, one of the biggest hurdles that first year teachers face is having adequate funding to stock and decorate their classrooms. 

It is important to me that my classroom is equipped with the necessary items that promote learning and education. With these funds I will be able to better provide a classroom for my students that promotes their own intellectual and personal growth.  I hope to provide my students with extra reading materials, visuals, and engage them in projects that expand their minds. I hope to provide my students a classroom that inspires them and keeps them interested in studying world cultures.
