With these funds, I will be able to communicate with my new students. I teach at the most diverse school in our district. These headphones will make communicating and learning for my new students from the middle east and also from South America. I have added 15 new students from the following countries: Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, and Venezuela. Many of these students have not been to school before. I am starting with the basics (1st grade) level information. Some of these students only speak Farsi so I have a very difficult time communicating with them. I can see in their eyes that they are very overwhelmed. I think the headphones will allow me to develop lessons that will help them acclimate to our country and language.
