Playground for All

The Description

The playground at Taft Elementary has been in place for over 10 years. The swings are old, the slide is rusty, and the equipment is minimal. With that being said, our students and our community absolutely love the playground! We are looking to raise $560 for a new playground for our students and our community! Our playground not only gives our students a place to get their energy out but it's a place for the community around us to use as well. A new playground would provide our students with excitement along with the opportunity to explore new equipment and obstacles. If we don't reach our entire goal we will still use the funds towards the playground for K-5. Depending on the amount raised, we will purchase new playground equipment to replace the old, existing ones. Thank you for your investment and support in our students and our community!

I want to thank everyone who donated to our cause. I can not express how grateful we are at Taft School for your donations and what the new playground will do for our students. As of right now the money has been put into an account for the playground. Here in Illinois it is cold and snowing, so the ground is still frozen. When ground has been broken or more has happen with the playground I will post more updates as I receive them. Thank you again for your support in our new playground.

About the Creator

I graduate from York College in Nebraska with a degree in Elementary Education. I have been teaching in Joliet at Taft Elementary for 6 years. As a child I struggled in school and it was very difficult for me. I didn't want other kids to have to deal with the same kind of struggles I did so I decided to become a teacher. My students are my kids and I would do anything for them. My students past, present, and future deserve to be given a fighting chance in school and I will do everything in my power to give them the skills they need to be successful students and kids.
