Follett Lightbox for Our Scholars

The Description

With these funds I will...purchase a predetermined list of book sets for our library which include an interactive e-book, a single corresponding hard-bound book to use in the library, and teacher materials. Follett Books has a product called "Lightbox" which is just that! The sets range in price from $40 to $80, depending on the grade level, and can accommodate every student in a class at the same time using chromebooks (which we have) or even their own electronic devices. We will focus on Science, History, and Geography. This is a new concept in classroom learning. We are so excited to bring it to our scholars!

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase...as many of the Lightbox sets as I can afford. Here is a link so you can see how it works:   http://school.follett.com/lightbox

"Follett Lightbox for Our Scholars" fundraising page, selected for a special pilot test

September 25, 2017

Our PledgeCents page, "Follett Lightbox for Our Scholars", has been selected for a special pilot test. The pilot test: remove PledgeCents' platform fees for our page. This means the only fees that will be deducted from our page moving forward will be 3%. So, we will keep 97% of the funds raised from this point on!  We have gone beyond our original goal, thanks to donations by our wonderful Collegiate family & friends. Whatever else comes in will simply mean we can purchase even more educational materials for our students. Thank you!

About the Creator

Our Collegiate Library/Student Union is a unique place. It is not always quiet, as one might expect a traditional library to be...because it is more than that. We do check out books and always encourage reading. As I personally believe, "Books are food for the soul." And we are building our collection nearly from scratch, our students effectively involving themselves through a book drive they initiated before Christmas break! We also offer on-line resources, printing, computers, and chrome books for student use. Additionally, we are implementing a Maker Space program to support the STEAM focus of our campus. But, even beyond all those things, our space is a gathering place for students to exchange ideas, share knowledge, express their own thoughts (both deep ones and not so deep ones); a place to create and study, brainstorm and contemplate...individually or in study groups. Our hope is that our students will feel a sense of ownership, in that it is a place for them, but also a sense of responsibility for the same reason. As part of the collegiate experience, the Student Union is a vital component to the community, independence, and self-discipline we are attempting to develop in our scholars.
